Horyuji Temple in Japan is considered as the oldest wooden architecture in the world as it was built in 607 AD. The five-storied pagoda that was constructed to enshrine the bones of Buddha is located next to the Golden Pavillion in the west monastery. The tower stands at 31.5m tall.
