The ninth-century Mahayana Buddhist monument serves as both a shrine to the Lord Buddha and a place for Buddhist pilgrimage and can be found in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia. Borobudur is still used for pilgrimage wherein once a year Buddhists in Indonesia celebrate Vesak (Buddha's birthday) at the monument. It is Indonesia's single most visited tourist attraction.
